Winter snow and holiday traffic can add time; check road status.

Take a taxi from our door on Shuru Road, Prini, near Mata Sharvari Temple, and ask for Old Manali or for the Manu Temple area. The lanes are not made for cars, so a taxi that drops you at the edge is better than driving in.

Go late afternoon, when the light is good and the lanes come alive, and book your ride back in advance for later nights. If you drive anyway, expect to look for space, and remember that for an Old Manali stay with parking, our basement is always an option for the car.

THE PLACE

Old Manali
in a few lines.

Old Manali is the older village above the town, set along the Manalsu stream, and known for its lanes, the Manu Temple Manali travellers seek out, its cafes and its nightlife. It has a lived-in, wandering feel that many travellers love.

The lanes are narrow, with very little parking, so it rewards visitors who arrive on foot or by taxi. Wear shoes you can walk in, expect uneven ground, and leave a little time in the evening because it can get busy.

If you come for the music and the cafes, go in the afternoon and stay into the evening. If you come for quiet, go in the morning, when the stream is easier to hear than the crowd. Keep your walking shoes on and the camera out.

QUESTIONS

Old Manali,
answered.

How far is HOGS from Old Manali?

Old Manali is a short drive from our address on Shuru Road in Prini. We have not published an exact distance yet, because we only quote numbers we have measured on the map, and the lanes can slow the final stretch. Message us and we will share the best route.

Is Old Manali noisy at night?

It can be, because the cafes and bars keep late hours, especially in the busy season. If you want quiet nights, staying in Prini and visiting Old Manali for the evening is a good compromise. Rooms at HOGS face the valley, away from the main lanes.

Is there parking in Old Manali?

Parking in the lanes is very limited, so it is hard to count on. At HOGS Panorama we have basement parking, so you can leave the car with us and take a taxi into the village. That also saves you the stress of narrow, crowded lanes.

Where can I find live music near Old Manali?

DO NTHNG – Himalayan Brew, our cafe and bar on site at HOGS Panorama, hosts live music nights. We do not publish a fixed schedule here, so message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you the next evening, and whether a table is free for your group.

Is it better to stay in Old Manali or Prini?

Old Manali puts you in the lanes and the nightlife. Prini gives you quiet nights, valley views, parking and our cafe and bar on site, with the village a short ride away. Choose Old Manali for the buzz, Prini for rest, or split your days between the two.
