Winter snow and holiday traffic can add time; check road status.
A taxi from Shuru Road, Prini, is the simplest way to reach the temple; ask your driver to wait or to return at an agreed time. If you drive, parking near the temple fills up in peak season, so an early start is your best protection.
Aim to be at the gate shortly after it opens. Midday in season is when queues build, and the forest light is at its best in the early hours. Check timings locally on the day, as they can change.
THE PLACE
Hadimba, also spelled Hidimba, Devi Temple stands in the Dhungri cedar forest above Manali. The Dhungri forest Manali visitors walk through is a draw in itself, and the tall trees around the temple are as much a part of the visit as the building.
Hadimba Temple history is commonly dated to the mid-1500s. It is a wooden, pagoda-style temple with layered roofs that suit the forest setting, and a shrine to Ghatotkacha is nearby.
Most visits take under an hour. Hadimba Temple Manali timings can vary with the season and the day, so check locally rather than relying on a printed time. Among the things to do near Hadimba Temple, a slow walk in the forest is the best. Dress modestly, expect queues in season and keep an eye on your belongings in the crowd.

QUESTIONS
The temple is a short drive from our address on Shuru Road in Prini. We have not published an exact distance yet, because we only quote numbers we have measured on the map, and traffic changes the time. Message us and we will share the best route.
Early morning is usually best, before the crowds build and while the light in the cedar forest is soft. Midday in peak season can be very crowded. Check opening timings locally on the day, and plan to be back at HOGS by late morning for breakfast.
It is known for its wooden, pagoda-style design in the Dhungri cedar forest above Manali, and it is commonly dated to the mid-1500s. A shrine to Ghatotkacha is nearby. It is one of Manali’s best-known sights, so expect visitors, especially in season.
Most people spend under an hour at the temple itself, longer if there is a queue or you enjoy the forest walk. Add the travel time each way, and allow extra in peak season. A half-day plan from HOGS comfortably covers it with breakfast and a rest.
Visitors go in winter as well, but weather and road conditions can change plans, and timings may vary. Check locally before you travel and wrap up warm. Message us on WhatsApp on the day, and we will tell you what we know about road status.
